Program Overview and Learning Outcomes

This one-day virtual interactive workshop is designed to help participants improve their skills and learn more about Best Practice Procurement and Contract Management.

The topics covered will include:

  1. An introduction to a wholistic view of Supply Chain Management.
  2. The buyer or professional purchaser’s role within Supply Chain Management.
  3. Best practices for buyers and professional purchasers.
  4. Fundamental legal issues for buyers. Key risks buyers must navigate through. 
  5. Cost savings opportunities. How purchasing contributes to the organizations bottom line.
  6. Introduction to the various documents professional buyers use: Request for Quotations. Requests for Proposals, Bid Evaluations, Purchase Orders, Contracts, Change Requests.  
  7. Introduction to preparation and elements of a procurement strategy.
  8. Introduction to vendor prequalification and vendor management.
  9. The art and the skill of negotiations.

The Facilitator Don Patterson MBA, SCMP is an experienced Professional with a unique combination of skills gained working as a practitioner and educator in the field of Supply Chain Management for over 20 years. Don’s practical and training experience includes large government and private sector organizations on a global scale, operations in oil and gas, pulp and paper, medium size manufacturing plants and the marine industry. REFUND POLICY:


Registrants will receive a full refund for seminars cancelled by Supply Chain Canada, NB Institute.

You are eligible for a refund minus an administration fee of $75.00+HST for cancellation/withdrawal requests received in writing by Supply Chain Canada NB Institute 15 days prior to the event start date.    After 15 days refunds will not be granted.  Substitution of participants are permitted subject to reconcilliation of member/non-member fee differences.  Transfer requests to a future offering is permissiable only if received in writing and accompanied by supporting documention.  Credits to be used for future offerings are valid for 12 months from the date of iniitial payment and will expire if not used in that time frame.  Please contact NB Institute for details regarding elibibility to transfer.
